We kicked off Health Week 2025 with National Senior Health and Fitness Day hosted by Shawnee Parks & Recreation at the Shawnee Recreation Center. The event provided our senior adults with opportunities to stay active, connect with others, and explore valuable community resources that support healthy aging.
Next, we were honored to welcome former NFL player Shamiel Gary, who spoke about the life lessons he learned through football, leadership, and perseverance. Following his talk, Shamiel led hands-on demonstrations focused on instilling healthy habits in our youth. A special thanks goes to Shawnee Public Schools for partnering with us to host the football clinic at Jim Thorpe Academy.
We wrapped up the week with a festive Friday Fun Day at KidSpace Park, featuring a variety of exciting activities including a free throw contest, an 80-yard dash, a bike safety demonstration, and our always-popular Pups & Pals station.
Finally, we closed out Health Week with a community favorite — Bug Fest at the Shawnee Public Library. Families enjoyed engaging exhibits from local vendors, up-close encounters with fascinating insects, and a buzz-worthy presentation from Bee Keeper Rick!
A huge thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, or partnered with us during Health Week 2025. Your support helped make it a fun, educational, and community-building success!
