Pottawatomie County Needs Some Zzzs
Sleep is superfood for our mental and physical health. Problem is, many of us aren’t getting enough. Adequate sleep is associated with lower stress levels, decreased depression and anxiety symptoms, stronger immune function, improved cardiovascular health, hormonal regulation, and enhanced mood stability. Despite its importance, many people do not consistently get the quality or quantity of sleep needed for optimal health.
“Sleep is a foundational component of mental health,” said Rebecca Damron, Pogo Mental Wellbeing Coalition co-chair. “By equipping residents with practical tools to improve sleep habits, we can make a meaningful impact on overall wellbeing in Pottawatomie County.”
In March 2026, Pogo hosted a Sleep Challenge in partnership with SSM St. Anthony's Hospital, Shawnee Public Schools, and Pioneer Library systems. As a part of that campaign for better sleep for everyone in Pottawatomie County, several resources were created that can help you and your family benefit from the information and ideas long after the challenge was completed.
